On December 6, 2019, thousands of people will walk out of class and their workplaces all across the United States to pressure influential institutions to address the impending climate crisis with urgency. We demand that the University of Maryland take a stand for a livable planet by ending its direct use of fossil fuels, divesting from any direct and indirect holdings in the fossil fuel industry, and committing to a sustainability education requirement for all incoming students.

We will gather in front of the administration building at 9:15AM for a short rally, then walk over to the metro at 10AM. We will be joining the coalition of climate activist organizations at 11AM in front of the White House for a Fire Drill Fridays rally and march themed around Migrant Justice and its connection to climate change. If you are interested in participating in a higher risk action occurring on the same day, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org

On a national level, we are mobilizing for a Green New Deal, respect for indigenous land and sovereignty, environmental justice, protection and restoration of biodiversity, and the implementation of sustainable agriculture. The Green New Deal is the only comprehensive plan that addresses the scale of the climate crisis through a just transition that creates millions of jobs and places indigenous and marginalized communities at the core of its vision.
On an international level, this climate strike will be taking place during the COP25 Summit in Spain, an important conference for the government's of our world to decide how to address climate change. Therefore, it is important that We The People be heard!
